1952. When 18-year old Mary Hazard touched down at Northolt Airport she was, like thousands of young, Irish nurses, post-war, embarking on an extraordinary career in a newly established NHS. Mary was to go on to work for over 60 years in all sorts of ways as a nurse, a health visitor, a carer for the elderly, a phlebotomist, with her own extraordinary life story to contend with, meanwhile.
